1845 – Macon B. Allen & Robert Morris Jr. become the 1st Blacks to

open a law office in the USA.

1967 – Aretha Franklin releases “Respect”.

1974 – Pres. Nixon said he will release edited tapes made in the White

House as a part of the Watergate investigation.

1983 – Harold Washington is sworn-in as Chicago’s 1st Black mayor.

1992 – Riots occur in Los Angeles, California, following the acquittal

of police officers charged excessive force in the beating of Rodney King.

Over the next three days 53 people are killed and hundreds of buildings

are destroyed.

2003 – Oldsmobile builds its final car ending 107 years of production.
